BACKGROUND: At 6:36 p.m. on June 11, 2022, a fire was reported to Angeles National Forest Dispatch by San Bernardino County. The fire was initially reported as approximately 1/4 of an acre in size. Firefighting units headed to the scene quickly. This fire is near Wrightwood, CA.   As of approximately 8:30 p.m., the fire was reported at approximately 30 acres in size. Currently, firefighters, engines, aircraft, and other resources have been on the scene. Night-flying operations are ongoing at this time. Angeles National Forest fire staff are on the scene. Cooperators include San Bernardino County Fire and CAL FIRE BDU. The cause of the fire is under investigation.   As of June 11, 2022, at 10:15 p.m. - There are no evacuations at this time. The fire is approximately 1.3 miles from the nearest structures at Desert Front Road in Wrightwood, CA. The fire is currently estimated at 35 acres at a moderate rate of spread. Tonto Canyon Fire (Wildfire)

On Sunday, June 12, 2022, the Coronado National Forest responded to three new starts at approximately 10:45 AM near Manzanita Mountain, Nogales Ranger District. The three starts combined to create the Tonto Canyon Fire. The fire is currently under the leadership of the local Type 4 Incident Management Organization. Mike Cachero and Francesca Amanna (t) from the local Nogales Ranger District. Firefighters will continue mopping up and reinforcing the lines. They will continue to work with Mexico’s firefighters to ensure that all lines are secure on both sides of the border. Acreage in the U.S.: 9,426 Acreage in Mexico: 3,000 Containment: 60% The team doesn’t anticipate much change in acreage moving forward as the majority of the interior pockets have already burned out. The Texas A&M Forest Service was requested to the Yogi Fire for assistance shortly after 1:00 pm on Monday, June 13th and remains in unified command with Bastrop Emergency Services District No. 2. The fire began east of Gotier Trace and South Old Potato Road and quickly presented a threat to homes in the area. As the fire moved north, local law enforcement conducted door-to-door evacuation notifications. Residents in the area of Gotier Trace, South Old Potato Road, east to Old Pin Oak, and north to Lois Lane were allowed to return home at 4:30. Initial fire behavior was moderate, with low to moderate rate of spread when crews arrived on scene. The fire is presented moderate resistance to control, with some short range spotting and torching of both live and dead vegetation. CURRENT STATUS OF THE SIERRA FIRE:  Updated June 17, 2022- 11 acres- 97% contained- Rowher Flats OHV Trail #3414W27 has reopened. - More info: https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/8164/BACKGROUND: A new fire was reported to the Angeles National Forest Emergency Communications Center on June 15 at 2:27 p.m. It appears to have started in the Bouquet Canyon/Spunky Canyon area of the forest. Firefighting units from the U.S. Forest Service and Los Angeles Fire Department arrived on the scene quickly. Lucky Strike Fire (Wildfire)

 On June 14, 2022, Texas A&M Forest Service (TAMFS) was requested for assistance for a wildfire located in Roberts County approximately 15 miles SSE of Spearman just south of county road 281 in steep canyon topography which caused access issues for firefighters. Initially, the fire had started on the night of June 12, from a lightning strike. Miami Volunteer Fire Dept. and Perryton Fire Department were on scene. With consistently windy days, the fire had continued to jump containment. Upon arrival on June 14, TAMFS had worked in unified command with Miami Volunteer Fire Dept. Heavy equipment and engines were utilized on both flanks. The fire had spread rapidly through the canyon bottom, but forward progression was stopped at FM 281. No structures were lost or threatened and fire crews continue to monitor the fire and mop up any areas were hot spots (concentrated areas of heat) are found close to containment

The Graham Fire started on June 9, 2022 at approximately 1800 hours in the Ishi Wilderness Area on the Lassen National Forest.  The fire is burning in a very remote area that is only accessible by foot or aircraft.  There are 7 Hotshot Handcrews and 10 Smoke Jumpers working on the fire.  As of June 11 at 1800 hours the fire is 153 acres in size and 15%

 Fire started on June 13th at approximately 4 pm.  Fire located north of Ft. Wednesday, June 15The Menkhaven Fire was declared contained at 17:13 on June 8th. Fire crews patrolling the fire are still finding interior pockets of heat that may be occasionally producing visible smoke. This is normal under these circumstances. Dangerous cliff bands are extremely difficult to work in, let alone safely extinguish hot spots that firefighters may not be able to reach. Crews will continue to patrol and monitor the fire on an as-needed basis. High wind days are of particular concern to us. A substantial amount of rain is needed to fully extinguish the Menkhaven Fire. Until that happens, it is likely that hotspots will continue to be detected and occasionally produce smoke that can be seen from various points along Highway 17 or the Forest roads on top. Recently, crews have photo documented the natural recovery process that begins immediately after a fire.  On Wednesday, June 8, 2022, the Coronado National Forest responded to a new start at approximately 7:15 PM in the Peloncillo Mountains, Douglas Ranger District.   The Deer Creek Fire has transitioned back to a local Type 4 Team from the Douglas Ranger District lead by Incident Commander Carlos Torres. The fire has remained within its footprint at 1,042 acres and is now 85% contained. . Moving forward, crews will continue mopping up and monitoring firelines. The Cerro Bandera Fire is burning on private land within the National Park Service El Malpais National Monument boundaries near Highway 53 in Cibola County. The fire was first reported by staff at the Cibola National Forest's Oso Ridge Lookout on June 9, 2022 at approximately 11:00 a.m. The fire is burning in dry grass and pinon-juniper type fuels. Numerous personnel from the Forestry Division, Cibola County, USDA Forest Service, and National Parks Service are on the scene with support from firefighting aircraft. The cause of the fire is under investigation. IR flight was run last night and our current acreage is 939 acres. No increase of acres from yesterdays mapped acres. At this time we are still showing 25% containment, and forward progress has been stopped.Suppression efforts throughout the fire will continue with mop up and securing of fire

It is predicted that the Double Fire and Haywire Fire, a fire that originated 7.5 miles northwest of Doney Park, will merge.Current resources: Part of the Haywire Fire resources responding.Closures: The Coconino National Forest has closed nearly the entire northern portion of the forest from Interstate 40 toward the north. Texas A&M Forest Service received a request for assistance for the Cypress Mill Road Fire in Blanco County on the afternoon of Tuesday, June 7th. TAMFS crews are in unified command with local resources. Resources, including heavy equipment and engines were redirected from nearby Lincoln Smith Fire. Excessive heat, high winds, and critically low live fuel moisture contributed to active fire behavior. 5 structures were directly threatened and saved.

Cienegita Fire (Wildfire)

The Cienegita fire started on 6/3/2022, located approximately four miles northwest of the Village of Ruidoso, New Mexico, on the Mescalero Apache Indian Reservation. The fire was determined to be caused by several dry lightning strikes that hit the area that afternoon. The fire reached 37 acres the following day while both ground and aerial resources directly attacked the fire in tandem and Pecos Type 3 incident management team was assigned to the fire. Crews and aerial resources made excellent progress the following days bringing the fire’s total containment to 95% by 6/7/22. The afternoon of 6/8/22, command of the fire was handed back to the local agency.Over the next few days, the Smokey Bear Interagency Hotshot Crew (IHC) and aerial resources will remain on the scene to monitor the fire area and ensure there are no longer hotspots.    Unless there are significant new developments, this page will no longer be regularly

The 106-acre Perins Peak Fire is northwest of Durango, Colorado on Bureau of Land Management and Colorado Parks and Wildlife lands. The fire is 100% contained and management of the fire has been returned to the Tres Rios Field Office of the Bureau of Land Management. Smoke may continue to be visible as pockets of fuel, stumps, etc., inside the perimeter continue to smolder and/or burn. Fire danger remains very high across southwest Colorado and fire restrictions are in place on all public lands.
