Texas A&M Forest Service was requested to assist on a fast moving wildfire burning in Wise County late on August 3, 2022. The Deep Creek Fire is burning north of Rhome, Texas near Pioneer Road and Highway 287 in grass and brush vegetation.The Deep Creek Fire initially prompted evacuations in the area. More information concerning evacuations can be found on the Wise County Office of Emergency Management Facebook Page: https://bit.ly/3JxkkV0.At this time all evacuations have been lifted and power is being restored to the area. The fire has been knocked down and is now being mopped up to ensure no further growth.Texas A&M Forest Service was requested for assistance but thanks to the hard work of fire departments from Wise, Parker, Denton, and Tarrant counties the fire was knocked down prior to their arrival. The fires showed very little activity or smoke in the past week. All equipment was removed from the field and all firefighting personnel have demobilized. The fires will continue to burn with little anticipated activity until a season-ending weather event. UPDATE: Crews will continue working to mop up and strengthen containment lines around the Boldt Fire. Containment is now listed at 95 percent.Human activity was responsible for starting a 327-acre wildfire July 30 near Boldt Road in Westhoff, DeWitt County. The fire is believed to have been ignited by chains from a vehicle, which caused sparks to ignite dry grass in a pasture. The fire was pushed by winds gusting up to 25 miles-per-hour from the south/southeast, which had endangered several structures. The fire moved quickly through the fine fuels and brush. The Texas A&M Forest Service worked in a unified command with the Westhoff Volunteer Fire Department. UPDATE: Containment on the Blue Bluff fire is now listed at 95 percent. Texas A&M Forest Service is working in conjunction with local fire departments to continue to locate and extinguish areas of residual heat, which could threaten containment lines.Crews returned to the Blue Bluff Fire Tuesday, Aug. 2 as the fire had escaped previously established containment lines. The original fire was started by chains dragging from a vehicle on July 29. However, firefighters were called back out when the fire reportedly escaped containment lines. The Texas A&M Forest Service worked in a unified command with the Austin Fire Department to contain the fire. The Dog Ridge Fire ignited on July 28th, 2022, approximately 2.5 miles east of Belton.The Central Bell Fire Department was dispatched to a fire at 1:47 p.m. near the 2600 block of FM 1670. The Brook Mole Fire began at about 2:20pm on Friday, July 29. Fire personnel estimated the fire to be about 300 acres and 0% contained upon arrival. The fire burned on both sides of Brook Mole Road. Fire crews successfully held the fire east of Eureka School Road with the assistance of multiple aerial resources. Dozers secured the fire's perimeter and engines "mopped up" pockets of residual heat along the fire's perimeter. Local crews remained on scene overnight to monitor the fire. Additional crews returned in the morning to mop up remaining heat along the fire's perimeter and patrol the fire line. The fire received some rain Friday night and into Saturday morning. UPDATE: The Ameritex fire has reached 100 percent containment. However, local fire departments will continue to monitor the fire for the next few days. A structure fire quickly turned into a wildfire in just off Highway 90 in Seguin, Guadalupe County. Firefighters were called to the structure fire, which quickly spread to a barn, then ignited four small wildfires. The 5-10 mile-per-hour southerly winds then caused the four smaller fires to become a 30-acre fire. Texas A&M Forest Service was dispatched at 1549 and worked in a unified command with Guadalupe County Fire Department. Priority was given to protecting between 20-30 homes which were threatened, while TAMFS deployed two dozers and a Type 3 Engine. The East fork Fire started on May 31 in a limited protection area North East of the Village of St. Mary's. Lightning moved through the area on May 30 and is the likely cause of the East Fork Fire. BLM AFS Galena Management Zone officials were working with Tribal, Native corporation and community to ensure the safety of the community residents. The priorities on the incident were still public and firefighter safety, and protecting sites of value, including Native allotments and cabins along the Andreafsky River and the East Fork as well as St. Mary’s and neighboring villages of Pilot Station, Pitkas Point, and Mountain Village. On Thursday morning, July 21, 2022, Hualapai Tribal Forestry personnel investigated smoke plumes on the East Side of the Hualapai Reservation. Hualapai Wildland Fire Management arrived at the fire incident near Prospect Valley at 11:30 a.m. The incident is ongoing with no estimate of containment at this time. The Long Creek Fire began at about 1245pm on Wednesday, July 27. The fire began due to a spark created by fire equipment. By 4pm the fire had grown to about 150 acres with 0% containment. The fire had a very high potential for growth and was burning in thick brush. There was no threat to structures. Dozers finished constructing line along the fire's perimeter at around 630pm. At that time, the fire was estimated to be 215 acres in size and 50% contained. Engines continued to mop up residual heat along the fire's perimeter until the fire was determined to be 90% contained. The Dog House Two Fire began at approximately 420pm on Tuesday, July 26. Local crews initially estimated the fire at 10 acres, with one structure lost. Crews were able to stop the forward progression of the fire within the hour and dozers began constructing line on both sides of the fire's edge, working northbound. The fire is burning in heavy mesquite and extremely rough terrain. By 6pm, fire personnel estimated the fire to be 30 acres and 80% contained. Dozers secured line around the fire's perimeter and the engines patrolled the area and "mopped up" residual heat around the perimeter through the evening. By the morning of July 27, fire personnel estimated the fire to be a total of 19 acres and 95% contained. Two engines will remain on scene July 27 to mop up residual heat and patrol the fire area. The San Gabriel Fire ignited on July 23, 2022, approximately 6 miles east of Liberty Hill near the Lake Georgetown Recreational Area.Texas A&M Forest Service is working in unified command with the local jurisdiction. The Haywire Fire was reported at 5:30 a.m. June 13, 2022. It originated 7.5 miles northeast of Doney Park. Information regarding fire restrictions and forest closures can be found online at https://www.fs.usda.gov/coconino Monsoonal storms will continue to develop and pass through the area into next week, bringing the possibility of lightning and isolated heavy precipitation around the fire area. Showers and thunderstorms with the potential to produce flash flooding and debris flows off the Pipeline Fire scar, as well as the Tunnel and Museum fire scars, may occur. Cloud cover, high relative humidity, and precipitation will continue minimize fire behavior. Heat and smoke will still be present within the fire perimeter as interior pockets continue to burn unconsumed fuels. The Coconino County Sheriff's Office has lifted all evacuations.
