MD 1438 CONCERNING SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 468... FOR SOUTHERN IDAHO INTO SOUTHWEST MONTANA
Mesoscale Discussion 1438 NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0751 PM CDT Wed Jun 26 2024 Areas affected...Southern Idaho into southwest Montana Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 468... Valid 270051Z - 270245Z The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 468 continues. SUMMARY...Storms will remain capable of severe winds and marginally severe hail into the evening. The environment becomes less favorable to the east and a weakening trend is expected as storms move into southwest Montana. With the continued approach of the upper-level trough this evening, some additional development remains possible in western Idaho. The most intense storms will continue to pose a risk for severe winds as well as marginally severe hail. The hail threat should generally be modulated by somewhat limited buoyancy. With temperatures cooler and the airmass drier into southwest Montana, storms are expected to gradually weaken with eastward extent. ..Wendt.. 06/27/2024 ...Please see www.spc.noaa.gov for graphic product... MD 1439 CONCERNING SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 469... FOR SOUTHEASTERN NEW YORK AND SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND
Mesoscale Discussion 1439 NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0753 PM CDT Wed Jun 26 2024 Areas affected...southeastern New York and southern New England Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 469... Valid 270053Z - 270230Z The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 469 continues. SUMMARY...Risk for damaging winds continues -- particularly across northern parts of WW 469. At least some risk should eventually spread into Rhode Island parts of Massachusetts, possibly requiring new WW consideration in the next hour or so. DISCUSSION...Latest radar loop shows a band of strong to severe storms moving east-northeastward into/across southeastern New York including the New York City area at this time. Locally strong/damaging wind gusts remain the primary risk with these storms, which should continue over the next few hours -- moving across Connecticut and Long Island. With the instability axis extending eastward into Rhode Island and portions of Massachusetts near and south of the ongoing/persistent, west-to-east band of storms, at least some risk may extend east of the existing watch in the next couple of hours. This could warrant new WW consideration. ..Goss.. 06/27/2024 ...Please see www.spc.noaa.gov for graphic product... ATTN...WFO...BOX...OKX...ALY... MD 1440 CONCERNING SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 467... FOR PORTIONS OF SOUTHWESTERN PENNSYLVANIA AND VICINITY
Mesoscale Discussion 1440 NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0808 PM CDT Wed Jun 26 2024 Areas affected...Portions of southwestern Pennsylvania and vicinity Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 467... Valid 270108Z - 270215Z The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 467 continues. SUMMARY...Local severe risk continues across portions of southwestern Pennsylvania and a small portion of adjacent West Virginia and Maryland. New/downstream WW not anticipated. DISCUSSION...Latest radar loop shows a band of storms moving across the mountains of southwestern Pennsylvania, and southwestward into northern West Virginia. The strongest storms are ongoing near an MCV crossing the Indiana County vicinity, where transient rotation and possibly a weak/brief tornado touchdown may have occurred in the past hour. Local risk for an additional/brief tornado and/or strong wind gusts will continue across northeastern portions of WW 467. Some instability extends northward into south-central Pennsylvania, east of WW 467, per RAP-based objective analysis. This may allow local/limited severe risk to persist over the next couple of hours, east of the watch. However, it appears that risk will remain isolated -- likely negating the need for new WW issuance. ..Goss.. 06/27/2024 ...Please see www.spc.noaa.gov for graphic product...
