<b>Federal or State Benefits Letter</b><br/><br/>

<p><i>This policy change is in effect for disasters declared on or after August 13, 2021.</i></p>

<p>To be considered for FEMA assistance, you may provide a document for one of the following from a federal or state agency (such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program [SNAP], etc.):</p>

<ul><li>A document received before the disaster that proves they provided benefits to the applicant at the damaged dwelling address and includes the name of the applicant or co-applicant. Or</li>

<li>A letter or other written statement prepared after the disaster that verifies that the applicant or co-applicant lived at the damaged dwelling address at the time of the disaster.</li></ul>

<p>The letter or written statement must include the name and telephone number of the person or organization providing the proof.</p>

<p>You may use this document to verify occupancy.</p>
