Program Description

FEMA's Individuals and Households Program may provide money and limited direct housing services to help you after a disaster.

If you have damage to your home, you needed to move, or you have other serious needs due to a presidentially declared disaster, the program may be able to help.

General Program Requirements

You can get help from this program if you meet all of the conditions below:

You are a U.S. citizen, non-citizen national, or qualified alien.
FEMA can confirm your identity.
Your costs or needs are caused by a presidentially declared disaster.
Your insurance or other assistance sources don’t cover your costs or needs.

Most forms of assistance are limited to losses related to your primary home.

Application Process

There are several ways you can apply:

Start an application online.
Call FEMA’s Helpline at 1-800-621-3362.
Visit a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC). You can use the DRC Locator to find a center near you.
