Program Description

If you get Social Security benefits now, but you’ve moved, you must update the mailing address you use for your benefits.

You can also update your other main contact information, so Social Security can contact you about your benefits.

If you don’t get benefits now, but did get or applied for them in the past, this change allows you to get other notices from Social Security.

General Program Requirements

If you move or have changes for other reasons, you can update your mailing address, phone number, or email address at any time.

Application Process

If you get Social Security benefits or have Medicare, you can update your contact information online. You must create a my Social Security account to access it. You may also call or visit a local office to make the change.

If you get Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or do not have a U.S. mailing address, you must call or visit a local office to change your address.
