Medicare is a health insurance program for people who meet certain conditions.

The program can help with health care costs. But it does not cover all medical expenses or most long-term care.

You may qualify for Medicare if you meet one of the conditions below:

You are age 65 or older.
You are under age 65 and get Social Security Disability benefits for at least 24 months.
You have permanent kidney failure (end-stage renal disease).
