Program Description

Social Security provides retirement, disability, and survivor benefits to workers and their dependents. If you get benefits now but you’ve moved, you must change the mailing address you use for your benefits.

If you don’t get benefits now, but got or applied for them in the past, this address change ensures you’ll get other notices from Social Security.

General Program Requirements

You can change the mailing address and information for your Social Security benefits at any time, including after a disaster.

Application Process

If you get Social Security benefits or have Medicare, you can change your address online. To make the change, you must first create a personal my Social Security account. You may also call or visit a local office to make the change.

If you do not have a U.S. mailing address or get Supplemental Security Income (SSI), you must call or visit a local office to change your address.

If you don't get Social Security benefits, SSI, or Medicare, you don't need to change your address with us.
