If you’re the dependent parent of an insured worker who died, you may be able to get Social Security Parent's Insurance Benefits. 

As a dependent parent, you must meet the conditions below to qualify:

• Be at least age 62.
• Be unmarried since the worker's death.
• Got at least one-half of your support from the worker at certain times.
• Filed proof of support with the Social Security Administration (SSA) within the time limit.
• Get a lower Social Security retirement benefit on your own record.
