If you’re the dependent parent of an insured worker who died, you may be able to get Social Security Parent's Insurance Benefits.
General Program Requirements
As a dependent parent, you must meet the conditions below to qualify:
- Be at least age 62.
- Be unmarried since the worker's death.
- Got at least one-half of your support from the worker at certain points in time.
- Filed proof of support with the Social Security Administration (SSA) within the time limit.
- Get a lower Social Security retirement benefit on your own record.
