General Program Requirements

To be independently entitled to benefits as a divorced spouse, you must meet the conditions below:

  • You were married for at least 10 years and divorced at least two years.
  • You are at least age 62, fully insured, and unmarried.
  • You get a lower benefit amount based on your own work.
